To Dr. Pugliese, among the most fascinating work of his research life has been the identification of cellular structures. Every skin care professional has encountered diagrams of the skin in books and lectures. Yet in his own laboratory, Dr. Pugliese found a way to create astounding views of the biology of the cell.
In the early days of experimentation, Dr. Pugliese created these beautiful photographs with a tissue culture, using a special microscope and various fluorescent medical stains which would react with specific structures, such as lipids.
Tissue culture remains a fascinating world of study for Dr. Pugliese and has formed the basis of many of the theories upon which future discoveries will be made.
